The protection they have against many pathologies disappears at the same time as this pivotal period appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They become <strong>more vulnerable to several health problems<\/strong>, including loss of bone mineral density which can lead to osteoporosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latter has the effect of weakening the bones in general, but also those of the <strong>jaw<\/strong>, which can cause negative changes in oral health &#8211; teeth, it should be remembered, are implanted from the <a href=\"https:\/\/nutrident.fr\/en\/bruxism\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/nutrident.fr\/machoire-qui-craque\/\">jaw &#8211; <\/a>and increase the risk of <a href=\"https:\/\/nutrident.fr\/omega-3-maladies-parodontales\/\">periodontal disease<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>Periodontitis <\/strong>is a disease characterized by an inflammation of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth. All the conditions are then met to cause the loosening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hormonal_therapy_for_better_periodontal_health\"><\/span>Hormonal therapy for better periodontal health<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>Estrogen therapy, <\/strong>which has been shown to be effective in preventing bone loss, may also play a significant role in maintaining<strong> healthy teeth<\/strong> and gums and in preventing periodontitis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At least that's what <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/28225430\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/28225430\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a recent study<\/a> led by Dr. Joann Pinkerton, executive director of the North American Menopause Society, found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This study involved<strong> 492 Brazilian postmenopausal women<\/strong>, ranging in age from 50 to 87 years. The link between <strong>menopause and teeth<\/strong> is undeniable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health professionals encourage women to check their <strong>vulnerability <\/strong>to osteoporosis.
