Invisalign Lite: the invisible appliance in a light version

Updated: November 3, 2022
Invisalign Lite
Invisalign Lite is suitable for mild cases.

Developed at the end of the 1990s in the United States (California), and arrived in France in 2000, the Invisalign concept has revolutionized the world of orthodontics. Rather than using unsightly and uncomfortable metal braces, Invisalign uses invisible clear aligners.

If you have a mild problem, you should use the Invisalign Lite version. Nutrident explains how it works.

What is the Invisalign Lite concept?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment for adults who refuse to wear braces. For teenagers, you should consider the Invisalign Teen version. The Lite version of Invisalign is the treatment that applies to people with fairly mild problems. For more pronounced defects, the Invisalign Full version should be chosen.

If your dentist feels that Invisalign Lite is the right treatment for you, he or she will take photos and impressions of your jaws, in order to make the aligners needed for the duration of the procedure. These gutters are transparent and therefore invisible, except when you are very close to your interlocutor.

You have to wear these trays all the time and the fact that they are removable is convenient and comfortable. You only remove them to eat and brush your teeth, or in exceptional cases, such as when you have an important appointment and do not want your braces to be noticed.

Every two weeks, you move on to the next set of gutters. They are designed to follow the evolution of your teeth. Every 6 to 8 weeks, you go to the dentist for a check-up to verify that the evolution is going well.

How to choose between Invisalign Lite and Invisalign Full?

The choice between Invisalign Lite and Invisalign Fullis up to your dentist. Invisalign Full is reserved for the most affected teeth. Invisalign Lite is sufficient if you only have minor misalignments.

Your orthodontist will be able to tell you which treatment is best for you.

The difference between the two procedures is mainly in the duration of the treatment, which is much shorter for Invisalign Lite. From 6 to 24 months for the former, rarely beyond 6 months for the latter.

In both cases, you benefit from the advantages of Invisalign technology:

  • Absolute discretion, thanks to the transparency of the gutters and which has nothing to do with the metal of the rings;
  • Incomparable comfort for several reasons: you don't have to worry about hurting the inside of your cheeks and lips; you remove them to eat and brush your teeth; aligners are never painful, unlike braces that exert more pressure;
  • you benefit from better hygiene, whereas braces tend to trap pieces of food that can lead to cavities.

How much does Invisalign Lite cost?

Like all orthodontic treatments, Invisalign Lite is not reimbursed by the social security if you are older than 16 years. However, you should ask your health insurance company if it will reimburse you for part or all of the treatment. Count between 1 500 € and 2 500 €.
